CAMPO

Cristian Allamand is the viticulturist and winemaker behind Campo. Born and raised in Mendoza, Argentina, Cristian has over 20 years of hands-on experience in grape growing and winemaking in the region. In 2009, Cristian partnered with his long-time rugby friend, Martin Castro, and together, they dedicated themselves to making terroir-driven wines. Cristian's family's vineyards are located in the two most important sub-zones in Mendoza: the Valle de Uco, where he cultivates vineyards planted mainly with Malbec, and Luján de Cuyo, where he grows grapes for white wines, including the rare variety Saint Jeannet. Situated at over 1,000m elevation, fruit from these vineyards tends to have higher levels of natural acidity and lower alcohols, giving the wines more freshness and characteristic floral aromas. Cristian farms the vineyards organically and started the certification process in 2022. All grapes are harvested by hand, and fermentations are entirely with native yeasts. Red wines are matured in neutral French oak barrels, while stainless steel is used for the whites, with only minimal sulfites added as needed.
